# SHOW TYPES

The `SHOW TYPES` statement lists the user-defined [data types](/docs/stable/data-types.md) in the current database.

> [!NOTE]
>
> `SHOW TYPES` does not list [domain data types](/docs/stable/domain.md). To view domains, use [`SHOW CREATE ALL TYPES`](/docs/stable/show-create).

## Syntax

```
SHOW TYPES
```

## Required privileges

The `CONNECT` [privilege](/docs/stable/security-reference/authorization.md#managing-privileges) on the database is required to list any user-defined types in the database.

## Examples

The following example creates a [user-defined type](/docs/stable/create-type.md).

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"catppuccin-mocha","dark":"catppuccin-mocha"}}
> CREATE TYPE weekday AS ENUM ('monday', 'tuesday', 'wednesday', 'thursday', 'friday');
```

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"catppuccin-mocha","dark":"catppuccin-mocha"}}
> CREATE TYPE weekend AS ENUM ('sunday', 'saturday');
```

```sql theme={"theme":{"light":"catppuccin-mocha","dark":"catppuccin-mocha"}}
> SHOW TYPES;
```

```
  schema |  name   | owner
---------+---------+--------
  public | weekday | root
  public | weekend | root
(2 rows)
```
